Stimson offers unique internship opportunities based on the values of education, participation, and hands-on practical knowledge. Based on the Center's commitment to professional development, expectations for interns are high. In return, interns can expect a challenging environment that will prepare them for full-time employment in a professional setting.
Internships are volunteer experience only. All internships are unpaid.
|Duties:||Responsibilities of the Communications intern include:|
Tweeting, blogging and other social media activity.
Editing letters, news releases, op-eds and other material.
Searching the Web for news stories mentioning Stimson.
Website strategy and posting and writing material for the Stimson website.
Conducting Internet research for the Communications Department.
Facilitating outreach to the news media.
Assisting in the planning and staffing of events at Stimson.
Assisting with the development of marketing materials
Interns will gain experience with nonprofit communications, as well as an opportunity to interact with all of the Stimson's programs.
Students majoring in communications, journalism, or public relations preferred. Excellent writing and social media skills required, along with a basic understanding of how the news media operate. Applicants should have a strong interest in foreign policy issues and should be highly motivated and sincere in their desire for an internship that is challenging and professional in nature. Interns are expected to work regular hours.
